Happy Holidays

GasLamp is a winter wonderland right now. The booths feature an array of handmade and vintage ornaments, chic tabletop items and one-of-a-kind gifts that can’t be found anywhere else in Nashville. It’s the spot for last-minute Christmas shopping or for bringing that Christmas cash to buy something you’ve been desiring.

The newest spin on wreaths is literally done by encasing them in yarn. Crafty crafters started selling these out of their homes a few years ago and what began as a trend has turned into a new tradition. This variation in the photo, right, is crafted from a sweater and has a bit of a Scottish vibe ($25; Booth T-166 at GasLamp Too).

What do Pepperdine University and Western Auto Supply Company? George Pepperdine founded both. Western Auto Supply Company — commonly known as Western Auto — was a retail chain founded in 1909 to supply replacement auto parts. It ultimately sold a now-collectible line of bicycles called Western Flyer.

The cheery red model in the photo, left, is a Special Edition Western Flyer bike from the 1990s that is in great condition and would look smashing wheeling down a Nashville street ($700; Booth T-144 at GasLamp Too).

Now there are statements and there are statements. This life-sized doe, cast in stone, is a statement that will certainly go noticed. I love how it appears to be so gentle and graceful (photo, right; $795; Booth T-353 at GasLamp Too).

How gorgeous is this antique wooden child’s sled with metal swan head tops? Although it was meant to be used as a utilitarian objects, it has beautiful details with these swan necks and heads at the front. Dates to the late 19th century ($195; Booth T-106 at GasLamp Too).

This two piece Nordic Ware Santa mold would make a gorgeous cake for gifting or for serving at a chic party (photo, right; $24; Booth T-106 at GasLamp Too). It measures 10-by-6 inches and would make a fun and unusual gift — that is, if you can bear to part with it! Founded in 1946, Nordic Ware is an American manufacturer that also happens to be family-owned.

Christmas is such a joyous time of year in which to spread one's creative wings — and there is nowhere that inspires creativity more than GasLamp. Buy for a loved one or for yourself. Either way, you’ll usher some authentic whimsy into someone’s home.
